McKinlee grew up in Provo, Utah. She started her path in leadership when she decided to run for school treasurer in 6th grade (despite being terrible at math). She somehow got elected and she's been in some sort of leadership role ever since. From high school student body president to German club president at BYU to student senator at the Harvard Graduate School of Education to department chair - she's relished every opportunity to serve those around her. Now as a teacher, she works hard to lead her students every day and to help them become leaders in their own right. She loves reading, writing, telling stories, video production, politics, chocolate, and her dog. This year she has been a vital contributor for an upcoming book on leadership by a New York Times best-selling author, set to be released in 2021. Her motto is, "Success in life is not about the accumulation of things but about contribution to other people's lives.
She has a bachelor's in German/English Education from BYU and a master's degree in Human Development & Psychology from Harvard
This is her 8th year of teaching.
