In this course, students will explore America’s Civil rights struggle. Students will come to understand the complexities of this movement through debunking common myths, analyzing the multiple visions for achieving equality, and connecting the past to the present. Through the analysis of seminal US documents with historical and literary significance, students will come to better understand the crucial role that grassroots figures had in furthering this movement, and finally, feel empowered to create positive change in their own communities, nation, or the world.
