Joni Newman

  • Interesting/fun things: Joni has been involved in theatre as an actor since she was five. She has a cat named Izzy and England is her favorite country to travel to. She currently has about 80 books on her to-be-read shelves.

  • Joni says, “Lately I’ve been reading as many books by writers of color as I can, and I made a goal about five years ago to read literature from every country in the world. (So far my new favorite authors have come from Nigeria and Afghanistan.) I am a chocolate snob. I want to know where the beans came from and how they were harvested. Seriously.”

  • She has a BA in English Education from Brigham Young University and is mid way through earning her MFA in Theatre (emphasis in Theatre for Young Audiences) from the University of Central Florida. 

  • She has been teaching for ten years.
